Hello, and welcome to another episode of Talk This! It’s Dangerous to Podcast Alone. This week, we’re talking about Shenmue and Marvel’s Spider-Man, both of which are about young martial arts masters- just one of them can also cling to walls.
As usual, you can listen to our podcast basically anywhere you want. Check it out on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, or Spotify (or head over to our episodes page for even more options). Or just listen below!
Shenmue
Shenmue is an action-adventure open town game from SEGA, originally released in 1999 on the Dreamcast, back when SEGA was still a console maker. A young martial artist must embark upon a quest to avenge his father’s murder- but also, like, he needs to go to the arcade and hang out and play games and stuff. That’s pretty relatable, tbh.
Marvel’s Spider-Man
Marvel’s Spider-Man is an action-adventure open city game from Insomniac, featuring- yup, you guessed it- Spider-Man as its protagonist! This particular version of Peter Parker is a bit older than the traditional take. He works as a research assistant as well as a superhero in addition to trying to balance his family and love life, and there’s just not time to keep his apartment clean. Yup, he’s a millennial.
