Sid Meier’s Pirates! originally released in 1987 with a significant remake coming out in 2004 with a new 3D engine. Play as a pirate or a privateer or a trader and make your fortune on the high seas. Engage in sea and land battles, win or lose some duels, absolutely embarrass yourself on the dance floor, and do other pirate-y things. It’s a game that really leans into the romantic fantasy of pirates, more than the reality of it.

Sorry We’re Closed is a 2024 survival horror game in the style of the PS1, which is definitely a real trend. However, this one’s got some pops of color, and also everyone is some flavor of LGBTQ+. Michelle has been cursed by a demon called the Duchess, and she must fall in love with said demon within three days or die. With her new third eye, Michelle explores the demon world, looking for a way to break her curse.
