What is grinding? What are some of the common usages of the term, and what are its proper usages? Is grinding always something to critique, or can it be a good thing? What are some of the modern concerns around grinding, especially around economic practices? Is treadmilling actually the better term?
The Actual Discussion
We talk about different experiences of grinding and the different genres where grinding can appear. We also get into why grinding can be both appealing and unappealing depending on how it’s used. Also, if the game is “grinding” then can you really call it grinding or is it just the game? The discussion gets a bit circular sometimes, we’re sorry.
