The Topic

Why do games invest in cinematic trailers to show off their games? When do these kinds of trailers work and when don’t they? What are the different types of trailers in this category? Who can we blame and/or thank for their popularity? Is it worth it to make one, depending on your type of game?

The Actual Conversation

We talk about what goes into making a cinematic trailer, from the money to the manpower. We also talk about different genres of games and which ones benefit from cinematic trailers. However, we also talk about player response and what unintentional messages may be taken from the existence of a customer trailer. Plus, we offer the option of making a silly little song instead.
