Hello and welcome to another Side-Quest episode of Talk This! It’s Dangerous to Podcast Alone! It’s Emma’s choice of topic this week, and she’s decided we’re talking about game delays. Considering how many of them there’s been, seems like a good time to go into why that happens in the first place.
As always, you can listen to our podcast basically anywhere you want. Check it out on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, and Pandora (or head over to our episodes page for even more options). Or just listen below!
The Topic
We talk about video game delays from several angles- why they happen, whether they alleviate crunch, and who makes the decision. We talk about various factors that may go in to setting a release date in the first place, and then changing it sooner or later. We also talk about why people get upset about delays, and why we’ve never really been personally bothered by one.
The Actual Discussion
Is Cyberpunk 2077 delayed because it needs more polish or because they’re making everybody a personal Keanu Reeves gaming companion? Is that famous Shigeru Miyamoto quote real? And also, is it even correct? Also, we complain about how GameStop’s online pre-order function is busted. Please fix it GameStop. Please.
