Episode 126. Wariocraft

Hello, and welcome to another episode of Talk This! It’s Dangerous to Podcast Alone. This week, we’re talking about the Warcraft series and WarioWare: Get It Together! Game development is just boomerangs, jumping, and skateboards, don’t know if you knew this.

ADDENDUM: We briefly talk about the Activision Blizzard situation in this (although I aka Emma am probably a little too soft on them in hindsight), but this was recorded before more extensive allegations against CEO Bobby Kotick came out. We’ll link these details here so at least this blog can document the full context.

As always, you can listen to our podcast basically anywhere you want. Check it out on Apple PodcastsGoogle PodcastsSpotify, and Pandora (or head over to our episodes page for even more options). Or just listen below!

Warcraft

Firstly, you should catch up on the situation at Activision-Blizzard, since it’s good to keep developers in mind while talking about these games. Warcraft is a series of high fantasy games starting with a trilogy of real-time strategy games. However, it’s probably most known for World of Warcraft, one of the biggest MMORPGs (or just games) of all time.

WarioWare: Get It Together!

WarioWare: Get It Together! is the newest installment of the WarioWare series, in which Wario invests in creating tiny microgames for fast money. Unfortunately he can’t stop programming bugs either. When he and his team are sucked into the game they just made, they have to take out the bugs in order to get free again. This, of course, involves microgames.
