Hello, and welcome to another episode of Talk This! It’s Dangerous to Podcast Alone. This week, we’re talking about Yume Nikki and We Happy Few in a week full of smiles and laughter and nothing creepy anywhere nope nope nope. Everything’s fine!
As usual, you can listen to our podcast basically anywhere you want. Check it out on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, or Spotify (or head over to our episodes page for even more options). Or just listen below!
Yume Nikki is a 2004 classic RPG Maker horror/psychological adventure game from the mysterious creator Kikiyama. It recently got a full release on Steam (for free) and a 3D remake after spending many years off official storefronts. Not much is known about the meaning of Yume Nikki or even about the intent of its creator. Play as a shut-in dubbed Madotsuki who can only leave her room through the realm of her dream. Explore the surreal landscape of her subconscious as she gathers 24 “effects” which add variety to the gameplay.
We Happy Few
We Happy Few is a survival RPG from Compulsion Games. A Kickstarter project that languished in early access for a few years finally saw its full release in 2018. Take on the role of three rebels as they refuse to take their required Joy and instead explore the city of Wellington Wells to discover the secrets behind its happy front. Balance your physical needs, your use of Joy, and other factors to get around and make progress.
